What really makes The Old Cottage easy to recommend is how naturally everything fits together, from the welcoming vibe to the balanced menu and relaxed service. It feels like a place designed for conversation, good food, and returning again without needing a special reason. For many guests, the appeal also lies in how approachable the setting feels, encouraging repeat visits and spontaneous plans. The menu supports different rhythms of the day, from relaxed coffee moments to evenings shaped by wine, spirits, and shared plates, while the service keeps things friendly without feeling rushed.

We ate early (6.30pm Friday) so few in restaurant, but attentive, friendly service nevertheless. Really interesting menu (Cottage Signatures, particularly) and good value pricing of mains promised much... and delivered in spades! My Chicken Palak Paneer was delicious and perfectly spicy, as was my wife's King Prawn Ginger. Side dishes were a little brand, but overall an excellent meal in (what appeared to be) nicely refurbished interior. They've been here for years, deservedly so! Recommended.

Come down to the area from Bedfordshire to visit family and went for the Tuesday night banquet for £14.95. Excellent service with very polite and friendly staff. Only had a Korma but was very nice. Chicken Tikka starter was very tasty, the chicken was perfectly cooked leaving it nice, juicy and tender. My only slight complaint is that the Bombay Aloo had a bbq taste which made the potatoes taste a bit dry. Otherwise, I fully recommend this nice quaint little restaurant, especially for banquet night on a Tuesday. Thank you to all the staff. Sadly I was too hungry to take photos

My wife and I went last night at around 6pm. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, and the ambience was really relaxed with a good buzz. The food & drinks arrived quickly, with staff ensuring we were served in a timely manner. The food itself was incredible! We ordered the garlic naan, pliau rice, Bombay potato, Makhani Chicken & a lamb dish. All were exceptional, and prepared to perfection. The chicken was juicy and tender, the lamb similar. All in all, an amazing restaurant. We're definitely going to return!

A perfectly acceptable meal, just an fyi they don’t take Amex, even though there’s two Amex signs on the way in.

Old school Indian food. The decor is very dated compared to other more modern eateries. However has a charm all of its own. The food compared with other Indian restaurants in Chichester is about half price, so well worth a visit
